Kids Q

We had a great time with the kids who participated last year, and are looking forward to an even bigger turnout for the event this year. The 2013 Kids Q event will be open to 20 participants. The entry fee is $30, which includes a free grill that the participants will be able to take with them after the contest.

The Rules

Each contestant must be between the ages of 8-18. We are limiting the contest to the first 20 contestants with paid entry fees. The category will be ribeye steaks. The entry will be judged on the same criteria as the KCBS Sanctioning group’s rules. Taste, tenderness and apperance will be judged. All contestants must attend the cooks meeting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Cooking begins at 8 a.m.
Entries are due at 9:30 a.m.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.

The contest will provide the grills. Ribeye steaks will be provided by Halseys Food Service. Tables will be provided by the Decatur Jaycees. ALL OTHER COOKING SUPPLIES ARE TO BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTESTANT. For example, cutting boards, knives, spices, sanitizing wipes, garnish, etc.

Hold Harmless Clause: The Decatur Jaycees shall not be responsible or liable in any way for any losses, costs, damages, liabilities, debts or expenses incurred by the participants of the 2013 Riverfest Cook-off, its parents, subsidaries, affiliates, successors or assigns as a result of any acts, omissions or negligence of any person, firm, partnership or corporation attending or participating in the 2013 Riverfest Barbecue Competition, whether or not the act, omission or negligence occurs prior to, during or following the 2013 Riverfest Barbecue Competition.
