What an exciting time it was for me to be selected President of the Decatur
Jaycees. Our membership continues to grow as more young professionals move
to Decatur and look to become involved in community based leadership/networking
organizations. While we are active in 3-4 major community service projects
each year, our main goal is to establish a network of young adults that will
fill the leadership roles necessary to grow and promote Decatur . As the
future of Decatur, we feel that we should have a voice in the decisions that
affect our great City and our way of life.
We have grown our annual barbeque competition and music extravaganza into a
regional success with the help of great partners like Valley Budweiser, Rocket
95.1, First American Bank, and The Decatur Daily. Without the support of
these fine companies, we would not be able to pull off such an event.
With the help of the Decatur/Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau, we
are growing our annual triathlon into a world class sanctioned event. This
will bring national attention to the City of Decatur and will bring visitors
from all around the world.
Finally, congratulations to Arthur Orr. As a Decatur
Jaycee, Arthur was always hard working and dedicated. Arthur was recently
elected to the Alabama State Senate. Arthur's hard work and determination
paid off and he was chosen as the right man to represent our interest by 62.4%
of the voters in Senate District 3. We are all proud of Arthur's
accomplishment and look forward to his success in the State Senate.
